Gemini Compatibility: How Gem & Eye Get On With Every Star Sign We asked Gem & Eye, the Twin Toucans and Gemini Astrominals (21 May – 20 June), how they get on with the other signs. We got two answers for every sign, and they disagreed about most of them. Gem’s bits are first. Eye’s bits are in brackets, because Eye insisted. Gem & Eye + Arri (Aries) Arri is great fun. He runs, we talk, and between us we’ve done eleven things before breakfast. (Eight. Three were the same thing twice.) Verdict: best friends at top speed. Gem & Eye + Taur (Taurus) We told Taur forty stories in an hour. Taur said “Mm.” We think that means he loved it. (He was asleep.) Verdict: Taur is the best listener we know, even when he isn’t. Gem & Eye + Gem & Eye (Gemini) Four toucans in one room. Nobody has finished a sentence since Tuesday. (We have! We just finish each other’s.) Verdict: the noisiest party in the zodiac. Gem & Eye + Canny (Cancer) Canny wants a deep, cosy chat about feelings. We want to chat about everything at once. Canny is very patient with us. (Canny made us soup. We talked through the soup.) Verdict: Canny keeps us grounded. Lovingly. Gem & Eye + Leo (Leo) Leo performs, we commentate. It’s basically a live show. (We sold tickets. Leo doesn’t know.) Verdict: a hit, with a great audience. Gem & Eye + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo corrects our spelling. We correct Virgo’s fun levels. (Virgo corrected this sentence.) Verdict: we’re a better team than either of us expected. Gem & Eye + Libby (Libra) Fellow air sign, fellow bird, fellow chatterbox. We can talk for six hours and Libby still agrees with both of us. (Even when we disagree. That’s a skill.) Verdict: a match made in the clouds. Gem & Eye + Score (Scorpio) We tell Score everything. Score tells us nothing. Score knows all our secrets. We know none of Score’s. (We’re fine with this. We’re mostly fine with this.) Verdict: fascinating, slightly nerve-racking. Gem & Eye + Sagg (Sagittarius) Our opposite sign, and our favourite travel buddy. We ask the questions, Sagg goes and finds the answers, usually in another country. (We forgot our passports. Twice.) Verdict: the best road trip in the zodiac. Gem & Eye + Cap (Capricorn) Cap makes plans. We make plans and then change them. Cap has a whole folder called “Gem & Eye Changes”. (It’s a big folder.) Verdict: Cap keeps us on track. We keep Cap amused. Gem & Eye + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua has big ideas, we have big mouths. Together we could explain anything to anyone. (We just did. Nobody asked.) Verdict: an air sign think tank, with snacks. Gem & Eye + Pike (Pisces) Pike tells the most beautiful dreamy stories. We act them out, doing every voice. (Pike cried. Happy crying.) Verdict: a lovely little theatre company. Gem & Eye’s sign-off: Getting on with a Gemini is easy. Just keep talking. Or listening. Or both at the same time. (We’ll handle the talking.) Libra Compatibility: How Libby the Flamingo Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Libby the Flamingo, the Libra Astrominal (23 September – 22 October), how she gets on with the other signs. Her first draft gave all twelve signs ten out of ten. We asked her to be honest. Her second draft gave them all ten out of ten, with a note saying “but in different ways”. Libby + Arri (Aries) My opposite sign. Arri says, “Let’s go!” I say, “Shall we talk about where?” By the time I’ve weighed up both options, Arri has been to both places and come back. Verdict: he gets me moving, I get him thinking. Perfectly balanced. (Of course.) Libby + Taur (Taurus) We both love beautiful things. We went shopping for one cushion and came home with forty. Taur sat on all of them at once. Verdict: a stunning living room with nowhere to stand. Libby + Gem & Eye (Gemini) Fellow birds, fellow air signs, fellow chatterboxes. They disagree with each other and I agree with both of them. It’s the most peaceful argument in the world. Verdict: chatting in the clouds, forever. Libby + Canny (Cancer) If anyone raises their voice, Canny hides in a shell and I hide behind my own leg. It doesn’t hide much of me. I’m very pink. Verdict: a gentle friendship. A very visible hiding place. Libby + Leo (Leo) Leo likes to stand in front. I let him, because it’s polite, and because from behind him I get a lovely view of his mane. Verdict: fabulous together. He thinks he’s the fabulous one. Let him. Libby + Virgo (Virgo) I make things pretty, Virgo makes things neat. I adjusted a picture frame two millimetres to the left. Virgo adjusted it back. We did this for an afternoon. It was the nicest afternoon. Verdict: beauty meets order. Eventually. Libby + Libby (Libra) Two Libras at a restaurant. “What would you like?” “Whatever you’d like!” “No, you choose!” The restaurant closed. We had a lovely time. Verdict: everyone’s very happy and very hungry. Libby + Score (Scorpio) Score says exactly what she thinks. I say exactly what everyone else thinks, so nobody’s upset. Score finds this baffling. I find Score thrilling. Verdict: she’s my brave friend. I’m her calm one. Libby + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg asked if I fancied an adventure. I spent three days deciding between the jungle and the beach. Sagg booked both. I went to both. I loved both, equally, obviously. Verdict: Sagg solves my decisions by not making any. Libby + Cap (Capricorn) Cap is the boss, I’m the diplomat. Cap says, “Do it now.” I say, “What Cap means is, whenever’s lovely for you, but now would be lovely.” Verdict: Cap gets results. I get smiles. The team gets both. Libby + Aqua (Aquarius) Fellow air sign and fellow bird. Aqua has a hundred ideas for changing the world. I make sure everyone’s happy about it. She keeps snacks in her pouch. I keep peace in mine. (I don’t have a pouch.) Verdict: two birds, one big beautiful plan. Libby + Pike (Pisces) Pike and I both hate arguments. When the others fall out, Pike writes a poem about it and I read it out on one leg. Everyone forgets what they were cross about. Verdict: the zodiac’s peace-keeping force. Libby’s sign-off: If you know a Libra, please don’t ask us to choose. Between anything. Ever. We love you all exactly the same. (But please do bring cake, and cut it into very equal slices.) Cancer Compatibility: How Canny the Crab Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Canny the Crab, the Cancer Astrominal (21 June – 22 July), how Canny gets on with the other signs. Canny said yes immediately, then worried for two days about hurting anyone’s feelings, then sent this with a homemade card for every sign. Canny + Arri (Aries) Arri knocked my sandcastle over. Then he said sorry so loudly the seagulls left. I built him his own sandcastle. He knocked that over too, but very gently. Verdict: I’m teaching Arri to slow down. It’s a long course. Canny + Taur (Taurus) I cook, Taur eats, I cook more. I’ve never felt so appreciated. Taur has never felt so full. Verdict: the cosiest kitchen in the cosmos. Canny + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They chat about everything. I want to talk about how everyone’s feeling. They’re very good at listening, for about four seconds at a time. Verdict: a lot of fun, and a lot of soup. Canny + Canny (Cancer) Two crabs, one shell. We keep bumping into each other and saying sorry. Then we cry because the other one said sorry so nicely. Verdict: lovely, but nobody can see out of the window for the steam. Canny + Leo (Leo) Leo loves an audience, and I’m the best audience there is. I clap at everything. I clapped when Leo sneezed. Verdict: Leo feels like a star. I feel useful. Win-win. Canny + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo organises my scrapbooks. I make Virgo a cup of tea when it all gets too much. We both worry. We worry together, which is nicer. Verdict: a gentle, thoughtful team. Canny + Libby (Libra) Libby hates arguments. I hate arguments. If anyone raises their voice, we both hide, Libby behind one leg and me in my shell. Verdict: a very peaceful household. Very quiet. Canny + Score (Scorpio) Fellow water sign. Score is tough on the outside, soft on the inside. So am I. Score would never admit it. I already have, in a song. Verdict: loyal for life. Canny + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg wants to explore the world. I want to stay home and make it cosy. Sagg comes back with stories, and I’ve always got a hot chocolate ready. Verdict: I’m Sagg’s home base, and I love it. Canny + Cap (Capricorn) My opposite sign. Cap climbs the mountain, I stay at base camp making soup. Cap pretends not to need the soup. Cap always drinks the soup. Verdict: opposites who look after each other. Canny + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua invented a machine that gives hugs. I tried it and said, “Thank you, it’s lovely,” then gave Aqua a real hug. Aqua is now redesigning the machine. Verdict: we’re working on it, together. Canny + Pike (Pisces) Pike and I can sit together for hours without saying a word, and both know exactly how the other is feeling. Verdict: the gentlest friendship in the sea. Canny’s sign-off: If you know a Cancer, tell them you appreciate them. Then do it again tomorrow. We’ll pretend you don’t need to. Sagittarius Compatibility: How Sagg the Zebra Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Sagg the Zebra, the Sagittarius Astrominal (22 November – 21 December), how Sagg gets on with the other signs. It arrived as twelve postcards from nine different countries. One just said “Wish you were here!” with no sign on it at all. Sagg + Arri (Aries) My favourite adventure buddy. Arri doesn’t check anything, I don’t plan anything, and we always end up halfway up a volcano with one sandwich. Best day ever, every time. Verdict: maximum fun, minimum sandwiches. Sagg + Taur (Taurus) I asked Taur to come white-water rafting. He said, “No.” I asked him to come camping. He said, “No.” Now I just send him photos, and he loves them from his sofa. Verdict: the best pen pal in the zodiac. Sagg + Gem & Eye (Gemini) My opposite sign, and two of the best travel buddies anyone could have. They ask all the questions, I go and find out. We once forgot our passports at the same airport twice. Verdict: the most fun road trip ever. Also the longest. Sagg + Canny (Cancer) Canny always has a hot chocolate waiting when I get back. I always have a story. It’s the best swap in the world. Verdict: Canny’s my home base. Sagg + Leo (Leo) Fellow fire sign. I go on adventures, Leo comes along to be in the photos. To be fair, he’s very good in photos. Verdict: great trips, great pictures, slightly too many of Leo. Sagg + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo packed me a bag with everything I could possibly need, plus a list taped to the front. I lost the list. Everything in the bag still saved me. Verdict: Virgo makes my adventures possible. I send the best postcards. Sagg + Libby (Libra) Libby couldn’t choose between the jungle and the beach, so we did both. She loved them both exactly the same. I loved watching her try to pick a favourite. Verdict: I’m Libby’s decision-maker. By not making decisions. Sagg + Score (Scorpio) Score keeps secrets. I can’t keep a secret for longer than a sneeze. Somehow, Score trusts me anyway. I think it’s because I’m so honest it’s not even worth checking. Verdict: I make Score laugh. Score says I don’t. Score’s laughing. Sagg + Sagg (Sagittarius) Two zebras, two backpacks, zero plans. We set off together and lost each other by lunchtime. Met up again in Peru a year later. Fantastic reunion. Verdict: best friends, separate continents. Sagg + Cap (Capricorn) Cap wants to get to the top of the mountain. I want to go up a different mountain every day. We have now climbed seven mountains together, because Cap gets competitive. Verdict: the hardest-working holiday you’ll ever have. Sagg + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua invents things, I test them in the wild. The self-steering backpack worked brilliantly until it steered itself to Norway without me. Verdict: an inventor and an explorer. The world isn’t ready. Sagg + Pike (Pisces) Pike dreams of faraway places. I go to them and tell Pike all about it. Then Pike writes a poem that makes the place sound better than it was. Verdict: dreamer meets doer, and both win. Sagg’s sign-off: If you know a Sagittarius, here’s the secret. Don’t fence us in, and we’ll always come back with the best stories. He agreed, on the condition that it was called “An Evening With Leo”. It isn’t. He doesn’t know yet. Leo + Arri (Aries) Arri and I are both fire signs and both natural leaders. He leads from the front. I lead from the front, but with better hair. Verdict: a blazing partnership. Mostly blazing at each other. Leo + Taur (Taurus) Taur is the only creature in the kingdom who doesn’t stand up when I walk in. I’ve decided this is because he’s comfortable around me. That’s a compliment, actually. Verdict: royal approval granted. Taur didn’t notice. Leo + Gem & Eye (Gemini) The best fans a lion could ask for. They tell everyone about me, twice, in two voices. Verdict: my official publicity department. Leo + Canny (Cancer) Canny clapped when I sneezed. Canny understands me. Verdict: a true friend with excellent taste. Leo + Leo (Leo) Two lions, one stage. We both took a bow at the same time and bumped heads. We’re calling it a duet. Verdict: the best show in town, with no interval and two encores. Leo + Virgo (Virgo) I make a grand entrance. Virgo tidies up the confetti. I once asked Virgo to join me on stage, and Virgo hid behind the curtain for an hour. Verdict: Virgo runs my backstage. I’d be lost without Virgo. Literally, Virgo has the map. Leo + Libby (Libra) Libby has style. I have style. Together we’re the most fabulous thing in the room, and Libby is very polite about letting me stand slightly in front. Verdict: gorgeous. Obviously. Leo + Score (Scorpio) Score is the only Astrominal who has ever out-stared me. I blinked. I’ll deny this in public. Verdict: mutual respect. Mutual mild terror. Leo + Sagg (Sagittarius) Fellow fire sign. Sagg is always off on an adventure, so I go too. I’m the one in the photos. Verdict: great fun, great photos. Leo + Cap (Capricorn) Cap wants to be the boss through hard work. I want to be the boss through being magnificent. So far, it’s a tie. Verdict: two leaders. One throne. Ongoing discussions. Leo + Aqua (Aquarius) My opposite sign. Aqua isn’t impressed by anything. I’ve done my best roar four times and she just took notes. I’ve never been so intrigued. Verdict: she keeps me humble. I hate it. I need it. Leo + Pike (Pisces) Pike wrote me a poem. It was all about me. It’s the best poem ever written. Verdict: Pike, you’ve got a fan for life. Well, I have. You know what I mean. I think first and never tell anyone what I thought. He has no idea how many times I’ve saved him from himself. I’m keeping count. Verdict: he’s lucky I like him. Score + Taur (Taurus) My opposite sign. Taur and I once had a staring contest that lasted four days. Neither of us blinked. The biscuits ran out. We agreed to call it a draw. I’ve written down that I was winning. Verdict: two stubborn hearts, one very loyal friendship. Score + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They tell me everything. Every secret, every story, every rumour. I tell them nothing. It’s the perfect arrangement. Verdict: my best source of information. Score + Canny (Cancer) Fellow water sign. Canny is soft on the inside, hard on the outside. So am I, but if you tell anyone that, I’ll know it was you. Verdict: I’d do anything for Canny. Canny knows. Canny wrote a song about it. Score + Leo (Leo) Leo does his best roar. I stare at him. Leo stops roaring. We’ve done this every week for a year. Verdict: I respect him. He’s a little scared of me. Both are healthy. Score + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo notices everything. So do I. We sat in silence for an hour and both spotted the same wonky picture frame. Neither of us said anything. It was beautiful. Verdict: the quietest detective agency in the zodiac. Score + Libby (Libra) Libby wants everyone to get along. I want to know why they aren’t getting along, and who started it. Between us, every argument gets solved. Verdict: she’s the peace talks. I’m the investigation. Score + Score (Scorpio) Two Scorpios in one room. Nobody speaks. Nobody needs to. We’ve each worked out the other’s middle name, birthday and favourite snack. Verdict: total trust. Total silence. Score + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg tells the truth, loudly, all the time. I keep secrets, quietly, all the time. Sagg is the only Astrominal who’s ever made me laugh out loud. I deny this. Verdict: Sagg is a mystery even I can’t solve. Score + Cap (Capricorn) Cap has a plan. I have a better plan, and a backup plan, and a plan for if Cap’s plan goes wrong. Cap appreciates this. Verdict: together, we could run the world. We probably won’t. We could, though. Score + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua is brilliant and a bit distant. I’m brilliant and a bit intense. Neither of us does small talk. Our phone calls last about nine seconds. Verdict: short calls, deep respect. Score + Pike (Pisces) Fellow water sign. Pike is the only one I tell my real feelings to. Pike writes them into a poem and forgets which poem. Virgo slid the answer under our door at 6am, checked it twice, then slid a corrected version under the door at 6:04. Virgo + Arri (Aries) Arri doesn’t read instructions. I read instructions for fun. I’ve fixed everything Arri has ever built, quietly, when nobody was looking. He thinks it fixed itself. Verdict: I don’t mind. Someone has to. Virgo + Taur (Taurus) I organised Taur’s snack cupboard. Taur nearly cried with happiness. I nearly cried because he said thank you out loud, in front of people. Verdict: a calm, tidy, crumb-free friendship. Virgo + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They talk very fast. I take notes. I’ve filled fourteen notebooks. Some of what they said was true. Verdict: I’m their fact-checker. They’re my entertainment. Virgo + Canny (Cancer) Canny makes me tea when I’m worrying. I make Canny a checklist when Canny’s worrying. We are both always worrying. Verdict: a lovely, gentle, slightly anxious team. Virgo + Leo (Leo) Leo asked me to join him on stage. I hid behind the curtain for an hour. Then I fixed the curtain. Verdict: Leo out front, me backstage. Exactly how I like it. Virgo + Virgo (Virgo) Two Virgos in one room. Very, very quiet. Every pencil points the same way. Nobody has ever been so relaxed. Verdict: bliss. Labelled bliss. Virgo + Libby (Libra) Libby makes things beautiful. I make things neat. Together, our bookshelf is so lovely that people stop and take photos. That makes me want to hide. Verdict: gorgeous and tidy. Please don’t look at it. Virgo + Score (Scorpio) Score notices everything. I notice everything. We sat in a café and silently spotted the same spelling mistake on the menu at the same moment. Verdict: the best detective team never assembled. Virgo + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg forgets the map, the tickets and occasionally the trip. I pack Sagg a bag with everything in it, with a list taped to the front. Verdict: Sagg has adventures. I make them possible. I get the postcards. Virgo + Cap (Capricorn) Cap has goals. I have systems. Together we can plan anything, including our plans. Verdict: the most organised friendship in the universe. Virgo + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua’s inventions are brilliant. I write the instruction manuals, because Aqua’s manuals just say “you’ll work it out”. Verdict: genius plus paperwork. Unstoppable. Virgo + Pike (Pisces) My opposite sign. Pike drifts, I plan. Taurus Compatibility: How Taur the Bull Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Taur the Bull, the Taurus Astrominal (20 April – 20 May), how he gets on with the other signs. He said he’d think about it. Three weeks later he sent this, along with a list of snacks he’d eaten while thinking. Taur + Arri (Aries) Arri charges at me most mornings. I don’t move. Eventually he gets tired and sits down next to me, and I share my crisps. That’s friendship. Verdict: I’m his wall. He’s my alarm clock. Taur + Taur (Taurus) Two bulls on one sofa. Nobody has moved since 2019. The remote is somewhere underneath us. We’ve made peace with that. Verdict: perfectly happy. Possibly fossilised. Taur + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They change their minds eleven times before lunch. I’ve changed mine twice in my whole life, and one of those was about mustard. Verdict: exhausting, but they always bring good gossip. Taur + Canny (Cancer) Canny cooks. I eat. Canny cooks more. I eat more. Nobody has ever been so happy in a kitchen. Verdict: the cosiest pairing in the zodiac. Taur + Leo (Leo) Leo wants the spotlight. I want the armchair. As long as the spotlight isn’t pointing at my armchair, we get on fine. Verdict: a peaceful truce, with occasional roaring. Taur + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo organised my snack cupboard by colour, size and date. I’ve never been able to find anything so quickly. I nearly cried. Verdict: earth sign heaven. Very tidy heaven. Taur + Libby (Libra) We both love nice things. Libby loves a beautiful cushion. I love sitting on a beautiful cushion. We go shopping together and come home with forty cushions. Verdict: gorgeous house, no room to sit. Taur + Score (Scorpio) Score and I are opposite signs, and we both dig our heels in. One staring contest lasted four days. We called it a draw because the biscuits ran out. Verdict: stubborn meets stubborn, and somehow it’s lovely. Taur + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg asks, “Fancy climbing a waterfall in the rain?” I say, “No.” Sagg goes anyway and sends me photos. I look at them from the sofa. Everyone wins. Verdict: works best by postcard. Taur + Cap (Capricorn) Cap does the hard work. I keep everything calm. Together we could run a whole farm, and we nearly have. Verdict: steady, sensible and slightly boring to everyone else. We love it. Taur + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua wants to change everything. I want to change nothing. She once replaced my armchair with a “smart chair”. I sat on it until it gave up and became a normal chair. Verdict: I won. Quietly. Taur + Pike (Pisces) Pike daydreams. I daynap. We spend whole afternoons doing nothing together, and it’s brilliant. Verdict: the calmest friendship in the universe. Taur’s sign-off: Getting on with a Taurus is simple. Pisces Compatibility: How Pike the Fish Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Pike the Fish, the Pisces Astrominal (19 February – 20 March), how she gets on with the other signs. She said she’d love to, then drifted off to look at a cloud shaped like a seahorse. Three weeks later this arrived, written on the back of a painting. Pike + Arri (Aries) Arri zoomed round my pond eleven times while I was watching the moon’s reflection. On the twelfth lap, he stopped and watched it with me. Just for a second. Then he zoomed off again. Verdict: I’m teaching him to notice things. He’s teaching me to hurry. Neither of us is very good at it. Pike + Taur (Taurus) I daydream, Taur daynaps. We can spend a whole afternoon doing absolutely nothing together, and it’s one of the loveliest things in the world. Verdict: the calmest friendship in the universe. Pike + Gem & Eye (Gemini) I tell them a dreamy story, and they act it out, doing every single voice. One of them always plays the moon. The moon has never been so chatty. Verdict: my favourite theatre company. Pike + Canny (Cancer) Fellow water sign. Canny and I can sit together for hours without a word and both know exactly how the other one feels. Verdict: the gentlest friendship in the sea. Pike + Leo (Leo) I wrote Leo a poem. It was all about him. He framed it, then had it printed on a T-shirt, then a mug, then a flag. Verdict: my biggest fan. Well, his own biggest fan, but he likes my poems. Pike + Virgo (Virgo) My opposite sign. Virgo packs me a lunch because I always forget. I remind Virgo to look up from the list and notice the sky. We both end up with a lovely lunch under a lovely sky. Verdict: opposites who look after each other. Pike + Libby (Libra) When the others fall out, I write a poem about it and Libby reads it out, balanced on one leg. By the end, everyone’s forgotten what they were cross about. Verdict: the zodiac’s peace-keeping force. Pike + Score (Scorpio) Fellow water sign. Score tells me her real feelings, and only me. I write them into a poem and then forget which poem. Her secrets have never been safer. Verdict: best friends, in the deep end. Pike + Sagg (Sagittarius) I dream about faraway places. Sagg actually goes to them and tells me all about it. Then I write a poem that makes it sound even better than it was. Sagg says that’s cheating. Verdict: dreamer meets doer. Both happy. Pike + Cap (Capricorn) Cap climbed to the top of a mountain and didn’t look at the view. I asked what it was like. Cap went back up to check. Cap said it was “quite nice”. That’s Cap for “wonderful”. Verdict: I help Cap stop and smell the flowers. Cap helps me remember where I left them. Pike + Aqua (Aquarius) I dream up impossible things and Aqua tries to build them. My swimming pool in the sky is on version three. Version two is still raining on the garden. Verdict: imagination meets invention. Bring an umbrella. Pike + Pike (Pisces) Two fish in a pond, both gazing at the same star, both thinking it’s winking at them. It probably is. Verdict: a beautiful, slightly forgetful friendship.
