Gift Ideas for a Sagittarius: 12 Presents, Reviewed by Sagg the Zebra Looking for gift ideas for a Sagittarius? Buying for a Sagittarius (22 November – 21 December) means buying for someone who’s already halfway out of the door. They’d love to stay and open your present. They’d just love it more if your present was somewhere else. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the biggest planet, and thinks accordingly: big trips, big ideas, big laughs. Their Astrominal is Sagg the Zebra, whose stripes are unlike any other zebra’s, and who’d quite like to see the rest of the world before deciding where to stand still. We asked Sagg to review twelve gift ideas. Sagg did it from a train. We’re not sure where the train was going. Neither was Sagg. 1. A scratch-off world map Scratch away every country they’ve visited. Then plan the rest. Sagg says: “I’ve scratched off France, Spain and a bit of the sea. The sea counts. I swam in it.” 2. A really good rucksack The Sagittarius suitcase. Packed at all times, just in case. Sagg says: “Mine’s already packed. It’s always packed. I just change the socks.” 3. A compass Old-fashioned, brass, and mostly symbolic. Sagg says: “I don’t always use it to find my way. Sometimes I use it to find a new way. Sometimes that’s the same as getting lost. I’m fine with that.” 4. A travel journal For tickets, sketches and stories nobody back home quite believes. Sagg says: “Page one: ‘Got on the wrong bus.’ Page two: ‘Best day ever.’” 5. A camping weekend A tent, a fire, and a sky full of stars. Sagg says: “Stars are just the world’s way of saying ‘there’s more out there’. I’ve heard them. I’m going.” 6. A telescope Sagittarius is the Archer, aiming at the stars. Now they can see them properly. Sagg says: “Is that Jupiter? That’s my planet. Hi, Jupiter. Big fan. Literally, you’re enormous.” 7. Walking boots Tough, comfortable, and ready for the long way round. Sagg says: “The short way is for people who want to get there. I want to go there. Different thing.” 8. A snack box from another country A taste of somewhere new, without the airport. Sagg says: “I don’t know what this one is. I’m eating it anyway. That’s how you learn.” 9. A phrasebook For ordering lunch in five languages, slightly wrongly. Sagg says: “I can say ‘hello’, ‘thank you’ and ‘is it far?’ in eleven languages. The answer’s always yes. I always go anyway.” 10. A hammock For the rare moments a Sagittarius stops moving. Very rare. Sagg says: “I’ll lie in it. For ages. Probably eight minutes. Then I’ll take it on a trip.” 11. A mystery day out They don’t know where they’re going until they get there. Sagg says: “Best kind of plan. No plan. Just a ticket and a grin.” 12. An Astrominals Sagittarius birthday card Whatever you choose, put it with a card that gets them. The Astrominals zodiac birthday cards feature Sagg as a treasure-hunting explorer, framed by a border of true-to-sign Sagittarius traits. Sagg says: “Hat, map, adventure. That’s not a card. That’s a holiday I haven’t booked yet.” Sagg’s three rules for buying a Sagittarius a present Experiences beat things. “Things go in a cupboard. Stories go everywhere.” Don’t tie them down. “Anything that needs feeding, dusting or plugging in every night needs a different owner.” Keep it cheerful. “If it makes me laugh, it’s already the best present. If it makes me laugh on a mountain, even better.” So, which present would Sagg choose? Sagg says: “The rucksack. Then I’ll put the other eleven in it and go.” Not sure which Astrominal you’re buying for? Take the quiz, or meet Sagg the Zebra and the rest of Team Fire. Astrological and zoological. Illogically logical.

Relationships with a Sagittarius

Sagittarius Compatibility: How Sagg the Zebra Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Sagg the Zebra, the Sagittarius Astrominal (22 November – 21 December), how Sagg gets on with the other signs. It arrived as twelve postcards from nine different countries. One just said “Wish you were here!” with no sign on it at all. Sagg + Arri (Aries) My favourite adventure buddy. Arri doesn’t check anything, I don’t plan anything, and we always end up halfway up a volcano with one sandwich. Best day ever, every time. Verdict: maximum fun, minimum sandwiches. Sagg + Taur (Taurus) I asked Taur to come white-water rafting. He said, “No.” I asked him to come camping. He said, “No.” Now I just send him photos, and he loves them from his sofa. Verdict: the best pen pal in the zodiac. Sagg + Gem & Eye (Gemini) My opposite sign, and two of the best travel buddies anyone could have. They ask all the questions, I go and find out. We once forgot our passports at the same airport twice. Verdict: the most fun road trip ever. Also the longest. Sagg + Canny (Cancer) Canny always has a hot chocolate waiting when I get back. I always have a story. It’s the best swap in the world. Verdict: Canny’s my home base. Sagg + Leo (Leo) Fellow fire sign. I go on adventures, Leo comes along to be in the photos. To be fair, he’s very good in photos. Verdict: great trips, great pictures, slightly too many of Leo. Sagg + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo packed me a bag with everything I could possibly need, plus a list taped to the front. I lost the list. Everything in the bag still saved me. Verdict: Virgo makes my adventures possible. I send the best postcards. Sagg + Libby (Libra) Libby couldn’t choose between the jungle and the beach, so we did both. She loved them both exactly the same. I loved watching her try to pick a favourite. Verdict: I’m Libby’s decision-maker. By not making decisions. Sagg + Score (Scorpio) Score keeps secrets. I can’t keep a secret for longer than a sneeze. Somehow, Score trusts me anyway. I think it’s because I’m so honest it’s not even worth checking. Verdict: I make Score laugh. Score says I don’t. Score’s laughing. Sagg + Sagg (Sagittarius) Two zebras, two backpacks, zero plans. We set off together and lost each other by lunchtime. Met up again in Peru a year later. Fantastic reunion. Verdict: best friends, separate continents. Sagg + Cap (Capricorn) Cap wants to get to the top of the mountain. I want to go up a different mountain every day. We have now climbed seven mountains together, because Cap gets competitive. Verdict: the hardest-working holiday you’ll ever have. Sagg + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua invents things, I test them in the wild. The self-steering backpack worked brilliantly until it steered itself to Norway without me. Verdict: an inventor and an explorer. The world isn’t ready. Sagg + Pike (Pisces) Pike dreams of faraway places. I go to them and tell Pike all about it. Then Pike writes a poem that makes the place sound better than it was. Verdict: dreamer meets doer, and both win. Sagg’s sign-off: If you know a Sagittarius, here’s the secret. Don’t fence us in, and we’ll always come back with the best stories. (And probably a souvenir. Probably a weird one.) Want more Sagg? Read The 10 Best Things About Being a Sagittarius. The 10 best things about being a Sagittarius

The 10 Best Things About Being a Sagittarius, by Sagg the Zebra We asked Sagg the Zebra, the Sagittarius Astrominal, to write a list of the ten best things about being a Sagittarius (22 November – 21 December). The list arrived on four postcards, from four different places. One of them just said “Number 6 is a secret. You’ll have to come and find it.” We found it. It was in a tent. 1. We love adventure Mountains, jungles, the bus to somewhere we’ve never been. A Sagittarius sees a path and wonders where it goes. Then goes. 2. We’re optimistic Raining? Puddles. Lost? Exploring. Wrong bus? New adventure. A Sagittarius finds the bright side, even when it’s very well hidden. 3. We’re ruled by Jupiter Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system. Big planet. Big dreams. Big laugh. It all makes sense. 4. Every one of us is unique No two zebras have exactly the same stripes. No two Sagittarians have exactly the same plans. Usually because we change them on the way. 5. We’re honest Ask a Sagittarius what they think and you’ll get the truth, with a smile. We don’t sugar-coat. We do sometimes add sprinkles. 6. We make the best stories Because we’ve been there, done that and fallen in the river. Twice. Ask a Sagittarius about their holiday. Bring snacks. It’s a long one. 7. We love learning New languages, new foods, new facts about volcanoes. The world is enormous, and a Sagittarius wants to know all of it. 8. We’re great fun If there’s laughing, there’s probably a Sagittarius in the middle of it. Possibly wearing a hat from another country. 9. We’re free spirits Fences are for other animals. A Sagittarius needs room to run, room to roam and room to change their mind. 10. We’re always up for it Trip to the beach? Yes. Climbing wall? Yes. Something nobody’s tried before? Especially yes. Sagg says: “That’s ten. Now I need a new list. Ten places I haven’t been yet. I’ve already started packing.” Think you might be a Sagittarius at heart?
