Relationships with an Aquarian

Aquarius Compatibility: How Aqua the Pelican Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Aqua the Pelican, the Aquarius Astrominal (20 January – 18 February), how she gets on with the other signs. She said it was a fascinating data problem and disappeared for a week. She came back with this, pulled out of her pouch. It was slightly damp. Aqua + Arri (Aries) I invented a gadget to stop Arri charging into things. He charged into it. I learned a lot. Verdict: my most useful test subject. Aqua + Taur (Taurus) I replaced Taur’s armchair with a smart chair that adjusts to his mood. He sat on it until it gave up and turned back into a normal chair. I’ve never seen a machine look so defeated. Verdict: Taur is the one problem I can’t solve. I find that thrilling. Aqua + Gem & Eye (Gemini) Fellow air sign. I have big ideas, they have big voices. Between us we can explain anything to anyone, whether they asked or not. Verdict: the zodiac’s loudest think tank. Aqua + Canny (Cancer) I built Canny a machine that gives hugs. Canny said thank you and then gave me a real hug instead. It was better. I’m studying why. Verdict: Canny’s teaching me things no book can. Aqua + Leo (Leo) My opposite sign. Leo did his best roar four times. I wrote down the volume. He’s never been so confused, or so keen to impress me. Verdict: I keep him humble. He keeps me entertained. Aqua + Virgo (Virgo) I invent things, Virgo writes the instructions. My instructions just say, “You’ll work it out.” Virgo’s run to forty pages, with an index. Verdict: genius meets paperwork. Unbeatable. Aqua + Libby (Libra) Fellow bird, fellow air sign. I come up with a plan to change the world, and Libby makes sure everyone’s happy about it. She’s much better at that bit. Verdict: two birds, one very big plan. Aqua + Score (Scorpio) Neither of us does small talk. Our phone calls last about nine seconds. They’re the best nine seconds of the week. Verdict: short chats, deep respect. Aqua + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg tests my inventions in the wild. The self-steering backpack worked brilliantly. It just steered itself to Norway, without Sagg. Verdict: an inventor and an explorer. Great results. Occasionally in Norway. Aqua + Cap (Capricorn) Cap asks, “How much will it cost?” I ask, “How much will it change the world?” We meet in the middle, at a slightly cheaper way to change the world. Verdict: the future, on budget. Aqua + Aqua (Aquarius) Two pelicans, two inventions, zero eye contact. We spent a whole evening discussing what colour jam would be on Mars. It was the best evening ever. Verdict: perfectly matched. Possibly from another planet. Aqua + Pike (Pisces) Pike dreams up wonderful impossible things. I try to build them. Pike’s dream of a swimming pool in the sky is version three. Version two is still dripping. Verdict: imagination plus invention. Wear wellies. Aqua’s sign-off: If you know an Aquarius, don’t worry if we go quiet. We’re not being cold. We’re thinking about you, and how to build you something brilliant. It will probably be damp. Relationships with an Aries

Aries Compatibility: How Arri the Rhino Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Arri the Rhino, the Aries Astrominal (21 March – 19 April), how he gets on with the rest of the zodiac. He’d finished before we’d finished asking. Here it is, lightly de-dented. Arri + Arri (Aries) Two rhinos, one doorway. Nobody goes through. We just stand there until the building gives up. Verdict: brilliant fun, terrible for doorframes. Arri + Taur (Taurus) I charge. Taur doesn’t move. It’s like running into a very polite mountain that’s eating a sandwich. Verdict: Taur wins, but only because he wasn’t trying. Arri + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They talk at the speed I run. Two beaks, a hundred ideas, zero brakes. I’ve never been so tired, or had so much fun. Verdict: a great team, as long as someone else does the tidying up. Arri + Canny (Cancer) I knocked over Canny’s sandcastle. By accident. At speed. Canny cried, then built me my own sandcastle, which made me feel worse. In a good way. Verdict: Canny teaches me to slow down. I’m still learning. Slowly. Arri + Leo (Leo) Fire meets fire. We both want to go first, so we race to decide who goes first, and Leo stops halfway to wave at the crowd. Verdict: I win the race. Leo wins the photos. Arri + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo reads the instructions. I eat the instructions. Somehow Virgo still fixes whatever I built, without a word, and then hides. Verdict: I need Virgo more than Virgo needs me. Don’t tell anyone. Arri + Libby (Libra) Libby asks, “Shall we talk about it?” I’ve already done it. Libby is the only bird who can calm me down by standing very still on one leg. Verdict: opposite signs, and opposites who actually work. Arri + Score (Scorpio) Score never forgets. I never remember. So far that has worked out well for me. Verdict: respect, from a safe distance. Arri + Sagg (Sagittarius) The best adventure buddy there is. Sagg plans nothing, I check nothing, and we end up halfway up a volcano with one sandwich. Verdict: maximum fun. Bring a map. Neither of us will. Arri + Cap (Capricorn) Cap wants to climb the mountain one careful step at a time. I want to go through it. We usually meet at the top, and Cap has made a spreadsheet of my mistakes. Verdict: annoying, useful, mostly annoying. Arri + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua invented a gadget that stops me charging into things. I charged into it. Verdict: she’s working on version two. Arri + Pike (Pisces) Pike drifts. I dash. I zoom round the pond eleven times and Pike says, “Did you see the reflection of the moon?” I did not. I do now. Verdict: Pike makes me notice things. Weird. Good weird. Arri’s sign-off: If you’ve got an Aries in your life, here’s the secret. We’re not trying to win. We’re trying to win quickly. Keep up, and you’ll have the most loyal rhino in the world on your side. Relationships with a Capricorn

Capricorn Compatibility: How Cap the Goat Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Cap the Goat, the Capricorn Astrominal (22 December – 19 January), how Cap gets on with the other signs. It came back as a quarterly review, with targets, ratings out of ten and “areas for improvement” for every sign. We’ve left the ratings in. Cap insisted. Cap + Arri (Aries) Arri wants to go through the mountain. I want to go up it, carefully, with a plan. We both reach the top. I’ve made a spreadsheet of the rocks he broke on the way. Rating: 6/10. Strong energy. Must read the instructions. Cap + Taur (Taurus) Taur keeps everything calm, I keep everything moving. Together we’ve built a very efficient farm. Taur has built a very efficient nap. Rating: 9/10. Reliable. Would hire again. Cap + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They change their plans more often than I check my emails, and I check my emails a lot. I’ve started a folder called “Gem & Eye: Changes”. It is now my biggest folder. Rating: 5/10. Excellent communication. Too much of it. Cap + Canny (Cancer) My opposite sign. I climb the mountain, Canny stays at base camp making soup. I don’t need the soup. I always drink the soup. Canny knows. Rating: 8/10. Soup quality: outstanding. Cap + Leo (Leo) We both want to be in charge. I do it by working very hard. Leo does it by being very shiny. So far the board can’t decide. Rating: 7/10. Good leadership. Too much glitter in the budget. Cap + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo has systems, I have goals. We once planned our plans, and then made a plan for reviewing the plans. It was the happiest week of my life. Rating: 10/10. A perfect colleague. Already filed. Cap + Libby (Libra) I say, “Do it now.” Libby says to everyone, “What Cap means is, whenever’s lovely, but now would be lovely.” Everyone does it now. And smiles. I don’t know how she does it. Rating: 8/10. Diplomacy department, highly effective. Cap + Score (Scorpio) Score always has a backup plan for my plan. Together, we could run the world. We’ve drawn up the organisation chart. Just in case. Rating: 9/10. Strategic. Slightly frightening. Cap + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg wants a different mountain every day. I want one mountain, done properly. We’ve now climbed seven together, because I refuse to let Sagg get to a summit first. Rating: 6/10. Fun. Unpredictable. Never has a map. Cap + Cap (Capricorn) Two goats, two to-do lists, and a race to see who can finish first. We both finished on Wednesday. It was due Friday. Rating: 10/10. Obviously. Cap + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua invents the future. I work out how much it costs. Her last invention would have cost one billion pounds and done the washing-up. Rating: 7/10. Brilliant. Must submit a budget. Cap + Pike (Pisces) Pike drifts, I climb. Pike reminded me to stop and look at the view from the top. I hadn’t looked at the view in eleven years. It was quite nice. Rating: 8/10. Unexpected benefits. Cap’s sign-off: If you’ve got a Capricorn in your life, we’re not bossy. We just have better ideas, and we’ve already written them down. Work hard, be on time, and you’ll have a friend who’ll climb any mountain with you. Want more Cap? Read The 10 Best Things About Being a Capricorn.
