Gift Ideas for an Aries: 12 Presents, Reviewed by Arri the Rhino Looking for gift ideas for an Aries? Buying for an Aries (21 March – 19 April) is simple. Get them something exciting, and get it to them fast. An Aries who has to wait for their present is an Aries already wondering if they should go and buy it themselves. We asked Arri the Rhino, the Aries Astrominal, to review twelve gift ideas. He agreed before we’d finished the question. He’d reviewed three of them before we’d finished the list. 1. A gift bag, not wrapping paper The first gift is the packaging. Aries do not peel tape carefully. Arri says: “Bag. Good. Hand in, present out, done. Paper is just a wall between me and my stuff.” 2. A really good pair of trainers Aries are always on their way somewhere, usually at speed. Arri says: “Are they fast? They look fast. I’ll find out on the way home. I won’t be walking.” 3. Go-karting A track, a helmet and other people to overtake. Arri says: “I don’t need to win. I just need to be in front the whole time. That’s different.” 4. An indoor climbing session A wall, a goal at the top, and no queue for the lift. Arri says: “Someone said ‘plan your route’. I planned it. The route is UP.” 5. A stopwatch Aries love a challenge, especially one with a number on it. Arri says: “Now I can time everything. How fast I eat breakfast. How fast I tie my shoes. How long you take to answer a question. Too long, usually.” 6. A red hoodie Red is the Aries lucky colour, and it hides a lot of mud. Arri says: “Red is the colour of GO. I’ve never seen a red that said ‘maybe later’.” 7. A seriously spicy hot sauce set Aries are ruled by Mars, the fiery planet. They like their food to fight back. Arri says: “The label says start with one drop. I respect the label. I disagree with the label.” 8. A fast-paced card game Anything with the word “snap” or “speed” in it. Arri says: “Board games are fine if they’re quick. If there’s a rulebook thicker than my horn, I’m making up my own rules.” 9. A scooter or skateboard Wheels. That’s the whole pitch. Arri says: “Comes with a helmet? Good. I’ll wear the helmet. I am brave, not daft.” 10. A self-assembly kit A model, a robot, a flat-pack anything. Arri says: “There are instructions? Interesting. I’ll look at them after I’ve finished. If there are pieces left over, those were spares.” 11. A Yes Day One day where they’re in charge of the plan. Arri says: “Breakfast at seven. Football at eight. Climbing at nine. Lunch is a sandwich we eat while running. You’re welcome.” 12. An Astrominals Aries birthday card Whatever else you give them, put it with a card that gets them. The Astrominals zodiac birthday cards feature Arri himself, in full action-hero mode, framed by a border of true-to-sign Aries traits. Arri says: “I’ve already opened it. Sorry. It’s very good. It’s me, so obviously.” Arri’s three rules for buying an Aries a present Don’t make them wait. “Early is good. On time is fine. Late is a crime.” Make it exciting. “Socks are not a present. Socks are what you wear on the way to the present.” Let them go first. “Whatever it is, I want to try it before anyone else. That’s not greedy. That’s leadership.” So, which present would Arri choose for himself? Arri says: “All of them. In order. Starting now. Why are you still reading this?” Not sure which Astrominal you’re buying for?   Aries Compatibility: How Arri the Rhino Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Arri the Rhino, the Aries Astrominal (21 March – 19 April), how he gets on with the rest of the zodiac. He’d finished before we’d finished asking. Here it is, lightly de-dented. Arri + Arri (Aries) Two rhinos, one doorway. Nobody goes through. We just stand there until the building gives up. Verdict: brilliant fun, terrible for doorframes. Arri + Taur (Taurus) I charge. Taur doesn’t move. It’s like running into a very polite mountain that’s eating a sandwich. Verdict: Taur wins, but only because he wasn’t trying. Arri + Gem & Eye (Gemini) They talk at the speed I run. Two beaks, a hundred ideas, zero brakes. I’ve never been so tired, or had so much fun. Verdict: a great team, as long as someone else does the tidying up. Arri + Canny (Cancer) I knocked over Canny’s sandcastle. By accident. At speed. Canny cried, then built me my own sandcastle, which made me feel worse. In a good way. Verdict: Canny teaches me to slow down. I’m still learning. Slowly. Arri + Leo (Leo) Fire meets fire. We both want to go first, so we race to decide who goes first, and Leo stops halfway to wave at the crowd. Verdict: I win the race. Leo wins the photos. Arri + Virgo (Virgo) Virgo reads the instructions. I eat the instructions. Somehow Virgo still fixes whatever I built, without a word, and then hides. Verdict: I need Virgo more than Virgo needs me. Don’t tell anyone. Arri + Libby (Libra) Libby asks, “Shall we talk about it?” I’ve already done it. Libby is the only bird who can calm me down by standing very still on one leg. Verdict: opposite signs, and opposites who actually work. Arri + Score (Scorpio) Score never forgets. I never remember. So far that has worked out well for me. Verdict: respect, from a safe distance. Arri + Sagg (Sagittarius) The best adventure buddy there is. Sagg plans nothing, I check nothing, and we end up halfway up a volcano with one sandwich. Verdict: maximum fun. Bring a map. Neither of us will. Arri + Cap (Capricorn) Cap wants to climb the mountain one careful step at a time. I want to go through it. We usually meet at the top, and Cap has made a spreadsheet of my mistakes. Verdict: annoying, useful, mostly annoying. Arri + Aqua (Aquarius) Aqua invented a gadget that stops me charging into things. I charged into it. Verdict: she’s working on version two. Arri + Pike (Pisces) Pike drifts. I dash. I zoom round the pond eleven times and Pike says, “Did you see the reflection of the moon?” I did not. I do now. Verdict: Pike makes me notice things. Weird. Good weird. Arri’s sign-off: If you’ve got an Aries in your life, here’s the secret. We’re not trying to win. We’re trying to win quickly. Keep up, and you’ll have the most loyal rhino in the world on your side. The 10 best things about being a Aries

The 10 Best Things About Being an Aries, by Arri the Rhino We asked Arri the Rhino, the Aries Astrominal, to write a list of the ten best things about being an Aries (21 March – 19 April). He wrote it in four minutes. Then he asked if he could do it again, faster. 1. We go first First in the queue. First up the hill. First to say “I’ll do it” before anyone’s finished explaining what “it” is. Somebody has to lead. It might as well be someone who’s already started. 2. We’re brave Spiders, thunderstorms, the deep end of the pool, the last biscuit when Taur is looking. Aries don’t do scared. We do “interesting”. 3. We have energy for days Other signs need a nap. Aries need a second activity. And a third one, in case the second one finishes early. 4. We’re ruled by Mars Mars is the red planet, the fiery one, the one with the biggest volcano in the solar system. That’s our planet. We didn’t choose it. It chose us, and frankly it chose well. 5. We’re honest If your hat is silly, an Aries will tell you it’s silly. Then we’ll tell you we like silly hats. Both are true. We don’t do sneaky. 6. We never hold a grudge We get cross fast. We get over it faster. By the time you’ve thought of a clever reply, we’ve forgotten what the argument was about and invited you to play football. 7. We’re the start of the zodiac Aries is sign number one. The whole astrological year begins with us. Everyone else is technically a sequel. 8. We make things happen You can spend all day planning a treehouse. Or you can ask an Aries, who will have built half of it by lunch. The half might be wonky. But it’s half a treehouse more than you had. 9. We cheer the loudest At sports day, at a birthday, at a friend’s first go on a bike. If you need someone on your side shouting “GO ON!”, find a rhino. 10. We’re never bored Boredom is just adventure that hasn’t been found yet. An Aries will find it. Usually by climbing something. Arri says: “That’s ten. Done. Can we go now? Where are we going? Doesn’t matter. Let’s go.” Think you might be an Aries at heart? Take the quiz, or meet Arri the Rhino and the rest of Team Fire. Astrological and zoological. Illogically logical.
