Relationships with an Aquarian

Aquarius Compatibility: How Aqua the Pelican Gets On With Every Star Sign We asked Aqua the Pelican, the Aquarius Astrominal (20 January – 18 February), how she gets on with the other signs. She said it was a fascinating data problem and disappeared for a week. She came back with this, pulled out of her pouch. It was slightly damp. Aqua + Arri (Aries) I invented a gadget to stop Arri charging into things. He charged into it. I learned a lot. Verdict: my most useful test subject. Aqua + Taur (Taurus) I replaced Taur’s armchair with a smart chair that adjusts to his mood. He sat on it until it gave up and turned back into a normal chair. I’ve never seen a machine look so defeated. Verdict: Taur is the one problem I can’t solve. I find that thrilling. Aqua + Gem & Eye (Gemini) Fellow air sign. I have big ideas, they have big voices. Between us we can explain anything to anyone, whether they asked or not. Verdict: the zodiac’s loudest think tank. Aqua + Canny (Cancer) I built Canny a machine that gives hugs. Canny said thank you and then gave me a real hug instead. It was better. I’m studying why. Verdict: Canny’s teaching me things no book can. Aqua + Leo (Leo) My opposite sign. Leo did his best roar four times. I wrote down the volume. He’s never been so confused, or so keen to impress me. Verdict: I keep him humble. He keeps me entertained. Aqua + Virgo (Virgo) I invent things, Virgo writes the instructions. My instructions just say, “You’ll work it out.” Virgo’s run to forty pages, with an index. Verdict: genius meets paperwork. Unbeatable. Aqua + Libby (Libra) Fellow bird, fellow air sign. I come up with a plan to change the world, and Libby makes sure everyone’s happy about it. She’s much better at that bit. Verdict: two birds, one very big plan. Aqua + Score (Scorpio) Neither of us does small talk. Our phone calls last about nine seconds. They’re the best nine seconds of the week. Verdict: short chats, deep respect. Aqua + Sagg (Sagittarius) Sagg tests my inventions in the wild. The self-steering backpack worked brilliantly. It just steered itself to Norway, without Sagg. Verdict: an inventor and an explorer. Great results. Occasionally in Norway. Aqua + Cap (Capricorn) Cap asks, “How much will it cost?” I ask, “How much will it change the world?” We meet in the middle, at a slightly cheaper way to change the world. Verdict: the future, on budget. Aqua + Aqua (Aquarius) Two pelicans, two inventions, zero eye contact. We spent a whole evening discussing what colour jam would be on Mars. It was the best evening ever. Verdict: perfectly matched. Possibly from another planet. Aqua + Pike (Pisces) Pike dreams up wonderful impossible things. I try to build them. Pike’s dream of a swimming pool in the sky is version three. Version two is still dripping. Verdict: imagination plus invention. Wear wellies. Aqua’s sign-off: If you know an Aquarius, don’t worry if we go quiet. We’re not being cold. We’re thinking about you, and how to build you something brilliant. It will probably be damp. The 10 best things about being a Aquarians

The 10 Best Things About Being an Aquarius, by Aqua the Pelican We asked Aqua the Pelican, the Aquarius Astrominal, to write a list of the ten best things about being an Aquarius (20 January – 18 February). She asked if it had to be a list. Could it be a diagram? A song? A small robot that reads it aloud? We said a list. She said lists were “very last century”, then wrote a brilliant one anyway. 1. We think differently Everyone else sees a cardboard box. An Aquarius sees a spaceship, a castle and a filing system for snails. Sometimes all at once. 2. We’re inventors If something doesn’t exist yet, an Aquarius will build it. If it already exists, an Aquarius will build a better one. With extra buttons. 3. We’re ruled by Uranus Uranus is the planet that spins on its side. Every other planet goes one way. Uranus goes its own way. We approve. 4. We care about the whole world Aquarius is the humanitarian of the zodiac. Saving the oceans, planting trees, making sure everyone gets a turn. Big hearts. Big beaks. 5. We’re friendly to everyone The new kid. The odd kid. The kid who knows every fact about trains. Aquarians love anyone who’s a bit different. Different is our favourite. 6. We’re independent An Aquarius doesn’t need to follow the crowd. Sometimes the crowd ends up following us. We didn’t plan that. It just happens. 7. We’re ahead of our time What an Aquarius is into today, everyone else will be into in five years. You heard it here first. 8. We carry the water Aquarius is the Water Carrier. I carry mine in my beak. A bucket would have been far too obvious. 9. We ask brilliant questions Why? Why not? What if? What if it was purple? Most great discoveries start with an Aquarius asking a question nobody else thought of. 10. We make the future more fun A world with Aquarians in it is a world with more ideas, more inventions and more odd socks. You’re welcome. Aqua says: “That’s ten. Next time, can I do it as an interpretive dance?” Think you might be an Aquarius at heart? Take the quiz, or meet Aqua the Pelican and the rest of Team Air. Astrological and zoological. Illogically logical.
